Tod Hyche, CFG Board Chair, reflects on nearly 25 years of involvement with Community Foundation

Interview with Tod Hyche – May 2024

Tell us how and when you first got involved with the Community Foundation.

I first got involved with the Community Foundation in 2000. David Quattlebaum, who was my mentor and senior partner at Leatherwood Walker Todd and Mann, P.C. (a predecessor firm to Fox Rothschild LLP), asked me to help with one of his clients. The client had named the Community Foundation as a beneficiary of her charitable remainder trust. I was impressed by how accommodating and proactive Bob Morris and his team were with this particular transaction – this has continued to this day. Shortly after that, I was named to the Board as the legal counsel. I served in that role until becoming the Board Chair in 2023. I have enjoyed working with the Community Foundation staff, the donors, and the board members. Greenville and the surrounding area are very fortunate to have such a great resource in the Community Foundation.

You’ve been involved with the Foundation in many ways – as a professional advisor, legal counsel, fundholder, board member, and now as board chair. What has been your favorite role with CFG so far?

My favorite role is working with clients and donors to find the best way for them to accomplish their charitable goals through the Community Foundation.

What are you most proud of being a part of at the Community Foundation?

It was an honor for me to represent Margaret Southern and work with her, Mike Shain, and Bob Morris to structure her $8,400,000 gift to the Community Foundation. She would be very proud of the impact her gift has made on the community and the Community Foundation being such a great steward of her gift. It was a privilege for me to be a witness to her generosity.

What are you most excited about for the future of the Greenville community?

The generosity of the individuals and businesses in our community.

Tod Hyche is a partner at Fox Rothschild’s Greenville office. Tod’s work in the wealth transfer planning area concerns all aspects of estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. Tod has served on the Community Foundation board of directors since 2001 and is our current Board Chair. He received the Ruth Nicholson Award in 2012 for his service to CFG and the broader community.
