Margaret Linder Southern Endowment Fund

Margaret Linder Southern passed away in October 2012 and left an $8.4 million bequest to the Community Foundation to establish an endowment fund. The Community Foundation carries out her wishes by making annual distributions from her endowment fund to benefit the Greenville Humane Society (50%) and organizations that benefit or provide services for early childhood education and special education for children and youth (50%).

2023 Grants Awarded

Since 2013, the fund has awarded over $3.5 million to local nonprofits. This year the fund will grant a total of $300,000 to the following organizations:

Center for Developmental Services – $35,000

Greenville Humane Society – $150,000

Poe Mill Achievement Center (PMAC) – $25,000

Project Hope Foundation – $35,000

Public Education Partners – $25,000

YouthBASE – $30,000
