The Community Foundation of Greenville is excited to announce the recipients of our 2024 Margaret Linder Southern Endowment Grants. A total of $400,000 was awarded this year to six local nonprofits. With the distribution of this year’s grant awards, the Margaret Linder Southern Endowment Fund surpassed $4 million in grants. Click here to read more about this remarkable milestone!
The Community Foundation carries out Ms. Southern’s wishes by making annual distributions from her endowment fund to benefit the Greenville Humane Society (50%) and organizations that benefit or provide services for early childhood education and special education for children and youth (50%). Congratulations to the following organizations!
Center for Developmental Services – $50,000 – CDS works to make caring for children with delays and disabilities easier and more effective by linking medical and support services in a single location. Funding will be used for operating support which helps CDS provide a safe environment for its partners and the thousands of children and their families who come for services and connections to vital resources for support.
A Child’s Haven – $50,000 – A Child’s Haven provides healing therapy for Greater Greenville’s developmentally challenged at-risk preschoolers while fortifying vulnerable families and strengthening our community. Funding will go towards direct services and operations for therapeutic treatment for children and families.
The Children’s Museum of the Upstate – $50,000 – TCMU’s mission is to develop young minds into compassionate problem solvers through purposeful, intentional and accessible play-based learning opportunities. This grant will be used to reimagine TCMU’s “Construction Zone” exhibit, a 2,100 sq. ft. space focused on construction industry workforce development and career exploration.
Greenville Humane Society – $200,000 – Greenville Humane Society works to preserve the lives and enhance the well-being of all animals. This is an unrestricted grant given each year as directed by Ms. Southern.
PMAC (Poe Mill Achievement Center) – $30,000 – PMAC is an after-school and summer enrichment program for under-resourced children in Greenville. The program empowers the students they serve, building their confidence and resilience as they emerge into the world as teens and young adults. Funding will support PMAC’s after-school and summer programs in 2025.
SHARE (Sunbelt Human Advancement Resources, Inc.) – $20,000 – SHARE helps people and communities exit poverty and achieve economic stability. This grant funding will be used to implement Conscious Discipline in classrooms and provide more resources to teachers to help children build resilience and cope with their feelings.
