Knox Haynsworth, Jr. was born in Greenville and began his legal career here, where he became a founding partner of one of the premier labor law firms in the southeast – Haynsworth, Baldwin, Johnson, and Greaves. Knox was a member of Christ Church Episcopal Church and was Past President of both the Greenville County Bar and the South Carolina Bar.
In memory of his late son, Clement, Mr. and Mrs. Haynsworth established Clement’s Kindness Fund for the Children at the Community Foundation of Greenville in 2002, a fund to assist children being treated for pediatric cancer and other serious blood disorders. Knox worked tirelessly to raise money to benefit Clement’s Kindness.
Community Foundation President Bob Morris reflects, “Knox was an incredible lawyer who was deeply respected by his peers. However, it was his passion for helping young cancer patients and their families that led him and Priscilla to create Clement’s Kindness. Their leadership resulted in millions of dollars directed to support thousands of families in a time when they needed it most.”
