Community Enrichment Grants Grant Proposal Criteria

The Community Foundation of Greenville is committed to the responsible allocation of the Foundation's unrestricted funds.  As an organization, we seek ways to make meaningful, sustained differences in the quality of life for the citizens of Greenville County.  Our goal is to seek out community-based projects where a modest grant can make a significant impact.

All 501(c) (3) non-profit groups can apply for Community Foundation grants to fund innovative projects that have a direct relevance to the Greenville County area.  An agency can receive one community enrichment grant per year.

We encourage proposals that:

  • Propose practical solutions to community problems.
  • Promote cooperation among agencies without duplicating services.
  • Use modest funds to make a significant impact.
  • Address prevention as well as remediation.
  • Make use of matching funds.
  • Strengthen an agency's effectiveness and stability.
  • Generate community support, both professional and volunteer.
  • State project objectives in measurable terms.
Proposal Process:

The competitive proposal process considers each submitted grant application.  The staff reviews each application to ensure that all have met submission criteria.  Each complete grant application is then assigned to a member of the Grants Review Committee for review and possible site visit.  In some instances a grant applicant may be asked to give a brief presentation to the Grants Review Committee.  The Grants Review Committee then makes its recommendations to the Board of Directors, who has the final authority to approve or deny any grant request.  We cannot consider proposals from organizations that have not returned the Evaluation Form from a previous grant award.
